Westward Ho!!

Yesterday we had a stake Pioneer Day celebration. We headed out as soon as Mayah and Connor donned their cowboys hats and practiced their square dancing. The kids thought all the old fashioned themed booths were really cool and of course Mayah had fun running around with her friend Sydney from her primary class. There were horse rides, corn husk dolls to make, gold mining, arrow shooting, face painting, a head dress craft, a vest craft, sawing, a stick pull, square dancing, and a country store where the kids could buy candy. Mayah loved all of the craft booths and Connor couldn't get enough of the country store.

Yes, I know it looks like Jason is about to break out in a "howdy partner", but this is the only family shot I have. And yes, I am strategically placed behind the kids again...I am very good at disguising the belly!

Mayah's corn husk doll.

We finally broke the news to Mayah that this wasn't "real" gold, she eventually got over the disappointment and added them to her "regular" rock collection.

She didn't move a muscle while she was being painted, she wanted it to turn out perfectly.

Jason was very excited about this one...he must have some hidden desire to design his own vests one day...so he not only helped Mayah with this master piece, but did most of the creating himself!!

Here are the kids, daddy included, picking out their candy from the old fashioned country store.
