The Classic Cookie

Today Mayah and I had a major craving for chocolate chip cookies...so being the good mother I am, I just couldn't tell her no (she had to do a lot of convincing--yea, right!). My favorite is the trusty Nestle Toll House recipe. Although I have learned a few tricks along the way. I like them a bit more puffy than the traditional recipe makes so what I do is use half butter and half butter flavored crisco. I've also found that if you chill the dough a bit it will make a puffier cookie. The ones I made today weren't as fluffy as usual b/c Mayah and I weren't very patient and we wanted to cook them asap. Another variation I do is use more sugar and vanilla than the recipe calls for...thanks for that hint Megan!! As a totally random side note...as I was taking these pictures of Mayah eating the cookie batter she says to me "Mom, I really miss watching America's Next Top Model." I probably shouldn't be admitting that I've let her watch that show with me before--great parenting skills, huh? But oh well, we both love seeing all the end photos and poses they come up with. Also as another disclaimer she's only seen it a couple of times. I guess I am getting a little too carried away with taking pics for the blog!!
