Meet Skat...

Jason and I have been fighting the "Can I please get a pet??" question for years now, but I've finally given in and have secured my spot as the #1 world's best mom. It took some major campaigning on my part to get Jason on board, but I came through. And when Mayah got the official "yes" from daddy he was the definite hero. How could he not have said yes when I had already said it was okay with me?? Then he would have been the bad guy and that was just not an option...good 'stategery' on my part I like to think...put all the pressure on him and make him buckle under the pressure of his adorable little girl :-)

*I do have to say that as far as little rodents go this little guy is actually kind of cute. And believe me when I say I NEVER thought I would be saying something like that in my life! Jason and I are NOT big pet people so I really surprised myself when I was actually rooting for Jason to give the final 'okay, we can get a hamster' to Mayah. When I was growing up I had at least 3 or 4 hamsters and gerbils (not to mention the countless other pets we had...snakes, turtles, cats, dogs, etc, etc.) and all I can remember is how much they pooped whenever I tried to hold them! So imagine my surprise when Skat ~ that's what Mayah named the hamster ~ only pooped once outside of his cage in the entire 2 weeks that we've had him...thank goodness for that. And I know there are those of you out there that are thinking even one poop is one too many...believe me, I hear you loud and clear :-) But in little Skat's defense, the poop is teeny tiny and not all that gross...if poop could ever be considered 'not all that gross' I guess this would be the case.
