So Cal fires

Yesterday and today have been consumed by the worry of the fires raging in Southern California. Sunday night Jason was asking if I smelled something burning and I responded "I think someone is just having a campfire or something". This was all while I was making eggs and toast for dinner...love the lazy dinner nights! Anyways, a little while later Jason asked if I heard something coming from outside, I of course, was like "no, you must be going crazy or something". So Jason wandered outside to see what was going on, then all of a sudden came back in and was all frantic saying there's a fire right across the road and they are evacuating everyone from the apartments just across the street from us. What!!! So I went outside and found all of our neighbors packing up their cars and heading out. The air was getting increasingly thick with smoke and by the time we actually left I could barely keep my eyes open from all the ash and smoke flying through the air. It was the weirdest feeling running through the house throwing all of our important pictures, files, documents, and anything that had significant meaning to us into a suitcase and wondering if I would ever see all of our other stuff again. This fire came out of nowhere and was started in three different places by arson. It is so maddening to think that some crazy person did this deliberately! Luckily we were able to stay at our friends house overnight so that we didn't have to worry about the fire leaping the road overnight while we were sleeping and catching us off guard. So we left with the eggs and toast still on the table waiting to be eaten and headed out. As of now the road that our house backs up to is closed...we are on the absolute edge of our neighborhood so it kind of freaks me out that if the fire was to jump the road we would be one of the first houses to "feel" it. We can't even get into the entrance of our neighborhood closest to our house becasuse it is barracaded by the police. The skies are filled with thick smoke and I am constantly looking out the windows to see what way the wind is blowing and what direction the smoke is going. The news is saying the winds (up to 90 mph) aren't expected to die down until tomorrow evening so the fires are extremely hard to contain. And the resources for fighting these fires are very limited because there are so many fires in San Diego, Orange County, and Malibu. They haven't seen any thing like these winds and/or fires in about 10 years. And all of this is happening just in time for me to go into the hospital on Wednesday morning to be induced!! So here I am just sitting at the computer listening to a live radio stream for updates and what areas are under mandatory evacuation.

So . . . I'm pretty sure that BLOWS AWAY my moving while 9 months pregnant and then being told by your doctor the day after you moving truck leaves that you're not going anywhere! Yikes! Hopefully it will all miraculously die down before Wednesday!

I can't believe all those fires. My home town was evacuated. (Poway, Sand Diego) and several of my parents old friends homes were burned in the fires. I just can't even believe all this. BE CAREFUL. I am so excited to see your new addition!!! :)
