In Mommy's Footsteps...

Mayah started a new dance class a couple of weeks ago. It's a ballet/lyrical combo class and she's really loving it. If any of you know Mayah you are well aware that dancing around the house (or random public places) takes up a large chunk of her life. I've been so amazed as I've watched her dance, even when she was really little, at the amount of technique and expression she puts into her dancing...toes always pointed, hips and feet turned out, legs straight, etc. Something crazy that she started doing from the moment she could walk is running and walking around with her toes curled under...ouch! I used to be able to do that back in high school, but when Mayah asked if I could still do it I tried and just about broke my toes!! (I used to be able to do a lot of things in high school, but my glory days are long gone!)

And I am well aware that I am her mom and you might think I'm a bit biased, but I'm really being honest...if she was horrible I would have no problem saying it :-) I like to think she inherited my dancing gene. My mom always tells me it was because I was pregnant with her while I was finishing off my last semester in the dance program. But then again that can't be it because if you've watched Connor dance you can absolutely see that he's got the "bust a move" gene as well!

You might be asking yourself "where did she get those ghetto moves from?" I assure you she came up with them all on her own! She titled this dance "Let me be your star of the week".

Here's a festive one to a song from the Polar Express soundtrack that is played several times daily at our house.

You've got a triple threat in that one, I tell ya. Can't wait to see you guys. She'll have to do an encore presentation at Christmas!

Watch out world, here come's Mayah! I am cracking up - I can't believe that she not only choreographed that little dance but composed a "song" complete with lyrics and beat boxing. She's a performer!

Sandy- I was laughing so hard I cried. It's just that I've never seen someone so little with so much RHYTHM- girl's got moves!! Mark overheard the commotion and had to come see for himself- we watched the "star of the week" over and over. Thank you SOO much for sharing!! Love that Mayah-girl. She is so cute.

If only I knew you could move like that it wouldn't have been Halo Spencer and I would have come over for - you would have been such great entertainment Sandy! Seriously, Mayah please we have to see that one live next time we are in town. Not to mention the chair/twirl dance - we LOVED it! Miss you.

Oh my. That was HILARIOUS!!!! She has some serious moves. And don't even try to act like you didn't teach them to her. I know how that BYU dance team is. Best of all is her music. She's a natural rapper. "Ya!" LOL!!!
