These past 6 months have flown by way to fast. I still think of Ava as my little 6 pounder with wrinkly newborn skin that would lay on my chest and sleep all day long. Part of me is sad to see that stage fade away, but the other part of me is soooo excited to watch her cute little personality start to form more and more each day. I took her to her well baby check up yesterday and everything looks great. She's 10th percentile for weight (13.8 lbs), 5-10th percentile for head size, and 50th percentile for length (25 cm, I think)...every woman's dream size I guess - skinny and tall. I was actually very surprised that her weight percentile was so low because she is a thick little girl with some major rolls!! She got 4 shots so that was no fun at all. It always breaks my heart to see my babies in so much pain :-( I am hoping that she'll be really sleepy today from the immunizations and that her sore little chubby legs don't bother her too much.
Everyone always asks how I'm dealing with the transition of going from 2 to 3 kids. Up until about a month ago I would always say that I thought the transition from 1 to 2 was a lot harder for me and that Mayah was an easy baby, Connor was even better, and Ava has been the best so far. However, I do have to revise my previous statement because of the simple fact that Ava has finally started "waking up". By this I mean that in the past month she's really developed a strong sense of what she wants and doesn't want. Her main want is to be held...a lot. This need, of course, can't always be met because of everything that has to "get done" around the house. So having 3 kids is finally starting to get harder for me. I guess it was bound to happen at some point, right? Luckily Ava has Mayah and Connor to keep her entertained when I am busy. Sometimes I even go as far as having Mayah babysit Ava while I am trying to make dinner (this is the time each day that she HAS to be held or she'll let you know that she is not happy). Babysitting involves Mayah sitting on the couch holding Ava and watching a cartoon...sometimes it includes a 50 cent fee as well, depending on how willing Mayah is to babysit (this is also the going rate around our house for a back scratch from her...child labor laws anyone?) I'm sure she'll be much more content when she learns to crawl. Then she won't be as bored. I do have to give her credit for being an amazing sleeper, though, my best so far. From day one she has slept through the night (minus about 3 weeks when she would get up once or twice to nurse). Jason always says she inherited the sleeping gene from me...the one who was always late to my 11am class because I overslept.
Ava is turning out to be a spitting image of big sister, Mayah. It's weird because I'll sometimes catch a glimpse of her in a particular outfit or laying a certain way and I'll immediately think of a picture I have of Mayah either wearing the same thing or posing the same exact way. It's really weird for me to think that we might have another little Mayah running around in the next few years. I'll have to post some pictures to compare the two look-a-likes. Here are some recent pictures of our little Ava love at 6 months...
If you ask me there is nothing 10th percentile about those cheeks!!

Ava is just as beautiful as her big sister was at 6 months and she is the spittin' image (where ever that saying came from)of Mayah at that age.
I think I need to come back out to take over holding her for you : )
She's following in your footsteps Sandy. You were so tiny for so long too and in the lower percentiles too.
I love the updates and *adorable* pictures of Ava! She IS so cute and chubby~ I guess I'll never know enough to compare going from 1 to 2 versus going from 2 to 3. I suppose I'll take your word for it! :) Here we come transition! It's crazy to think about it.
Anyway, you are an amazing, AMAZING mom, Sandy~ keep it up girly.
She is so cute. And totally looks like Mayah. BEAUTIFUL!!! I felt the same thing when Ellie was born. Not so bad. Then she "woke up" and I decided to go crazy. :)
