The Delivery...

I think these last three are funny...only 1 day old and he's already getting sick of my photo shoots :-)

Here is our precious new Bosworth delivery...Bennett. I went in to my OB appointment this past Wednesday for my doctor to check and make sure everything was good for my induction a couple of days later (my real due date isn't until the 12th, but I was going to be induced a week early). I explained to her that I was having what I thought were pretty strong contractions that started in the morning, but maybe they were just braxton hicks. She checked and said "Yep, you're right. You're in labor. Follow me over to the hospital RIGHT NOW!" Luckily Jason was there with me and I had my bag all packed and ready to go...Jason and I had a feeling that this was the day because the contractions were way different than the ones I've been having for the past month or two. Grammy got into town the day before so we were officially "ready". We arrived at the hospital, got my epidural :-), and they broke my water at 1 :15 pm. Jason and I were very insistent that they knew how quick my deliveries were and that I NEEDED my epidural before they broke my water and that the baby would be coming VERY soon after. When one hour went by, then two and still no baby they were joking how we jinxed the quick delivery by saying that. FYI labor and delivery nurses are extremely superstitious! Anyways, they kept coming in and checking because everything on the monitors and internally pointed to me being ready to push and they didn't understand why he wasn't moving down...they kept using the phrase "there are too many variables, it doesn't make sense that he's not on his way out now." So finally I was ready to push and they discovered that the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck and that was what was holding him up and keeping him from coming down quickly. And every time I would contract the cord would tighten around his neck causing his heart rate to go way down. I am used to pushing 2 or 3 times, but he wasn't coming as easily because of the cord so I ended up pushing like 10-15 times to get him out. I know that is still not that much, but I was just so scared while I was pushing because I knew it wasn't working how they wanted it to and when they figured out the cord was around his neck it made me even more nervous that something was going wrong. The nurse reassured me that having a cord around the neck is actually more common than one would think so that made me feel a little better. So, finally, after a 3 hour delivery, of which only 10 min was pushing (still not that long), out he came more perfect than ever. So far, 3 days into his existence, he is the sweetest, most chill little baby...sleeping all the time and only waking up when I wake him up because I know he needs to eat. He is such a tiny little thing...when he was born he was 7 lbs exactly. Now he's more in the 6 1/2 lbs range just because of the weight they lose in the hospital. He reminds me a lot of Ava as a newborn because she was extremely small as well (6 lbs 6 ounces).

He really is just so cute. I think all my kids have had the cord around their necks. But I never knew until they were out. I would be pretty freaked to!! But you did great. And he makes having more babies seem well worth it!

Ahhh! I feel your anxiety! The cord was up around Mason's face! So we had the heartbeat issue with him and they eventually used forceps to help him out. Glad to know Bennett made it safely into this world. He's adoreable and looks just like the rest of em!

Gosh that was long for you. :) He is beautiful - in a manly way. I am so glad you posted these, not that you don't have loads to do right now.

Can't wait to see him "live". I am glad everything was okay, both H & R had the cord around their necks - it is really scary. I think. As much as the nurses play it down... getting strangled is never a good thing.

Love you
