A couple of months ago Mayah came rushing home to tell me that she got the part in the first grade play that she tried out for and that she was sooooooo excited about it. I, of course, was thrilled for her, then I saw how many lines she had to memorize and got a wee bit nervous ~ for 2 reasons 1) because it was my responsibility to make sure she memorized them (on top of the homework, on top of all the other extracurriculars that we have) , and 2) because she had the main part in the play which would mean making sure she didn't get nervous up on stage in front of everyone. Well, everything worked out perfectly...her class practiced the play all the time so she got lots of practice at saying her lines, and she ended up loving being up there on stage with all the attention on her (I should have seen that one coming) . I asked her after she performed it for the first time for a real audience if she was nervous up there and she said "yeah, a little bit, but it was the fun kind of nervous...you know, where you're nervous and having fun at the same time". Well I wouldn't know because I would just have the nervous part and not the fun part :-) I was also really relieved that she enjoyed it so much because her activity of choice this summer is a theater camp and it would have been no fun if she was terrified of the prospect of getting up and acting in front of an audience. We were so happy for her and for the AMAZING job that she did. Mayah played Dr. Emma who was in search for the ancient barometer
